The Coin Clutch

Wearing a design by one of my favorite designers again: this “coin” clutch by Eman Fathy in a neutral palette of soft camo green and woven creme and peach  adds a lot of flare to an outfit otherwise consisting of more plain garments.

The H&M palazzo jumpsuit from two summers ago which I’m also wearing seems to be found in every veiled girl’s closet; after posting the outfit on my Instagram, more than a handful of girls noted that they have the exact same thing. This is generally the case with most items in my closet, and since I’m on a grad student budget this will necessarily remain the case for years to come. The trick then is to wear these common pieces in uncommon ways, putting some sort of personal touch to the whole thing by adding unique accessories that are often more affordable to buy from boutiques etc than entire clothes.

Check out more of Eman’s stuff here and here for outstanding one-of-a-kind additions to your basic wardrobe, whether clutches like this one, folkloric belts, or colorful garments.

Egyptian streets

It’s no secret that I love egyptian-style fashion. That’s my fashion, thats my style. Egyptian style is without a doubt the most creative hijab style out there, with a lot of colors, mix of textures and so on. Here is a tribute to the egyptian street style of Cairo:

And here is a little something for the fans of spanish hijab:

Lovely, or what?

Famous Hijabis

Sometimes sisters are hesistant of putting on the hijab because they think they will look ugly/silly. That’s simply not right. The hijab can actually make you look cuter (not in a “bad” way, though)! Here are six famous hijabis that prove the fact!

Upper left: Saudi Media Personality Muna Abu Sulayman, Upper right: Miss Arab World representing Bahrain Wafaa Ganahi, Middle left: Egyptian Actress Hala Shiha, Middle right: Egyptian Actress Hanan Turk, Down left: Malaysian Actress Wardina, Down right: Malaysian Singer Waheeda

Those girls look adorable in hijab, what do you think?

Western style wedding gowns

A lot of places offer western style wedding gowns for veiled women. I dug into the Hijab Magazine 2007 Catalog, and found some less flattering dresses there. I mean, I’m really into egyptian fashion, but some of the clothes just can’t make it to my wish list.. Like my mexican friend said to me when shopping in the City Stars mall; “they are into something, but they just can’t get there”… Here are the best wedding gowns from the 2007 edition:

I think I’d rather trust turkish designers on this one… I don’t know why but somehow they manage to make the dresses way more elegant, with way less sequined stuff. I want one like those underneath from Bala Couture! Now that’s flawless glam for the most important day of them all 🙂
